Movies today are more action-heavy than ever. However, many times it isn’t the actors who are doing the difficult bits. Celebrity stunt doubles exist so that the actors don’t have to put themselves in dangerous situations. When a stunt double is required, the film director is responsible for finding a convincing double. Cameras never focus heavily on the double’s face because that would give it away. They are often shot from the sides or the back so that the audience can’t tell it’s someone else. Some camera angles where the face is visible can also be altered with CGI technology. These men and women put themselves in dangerous positions and don’t always get the credit they deserve.

Andrew Garfield

Andrew Garfield used a stunt double when he played Spider-Man in The Amazing Spiderman movies. The fact that Garfield has his face covered by a mask whenever he’s in the action sequences made it easy to find a double. William Spencer was Garfield’s celebrity stunt double during his stint as Spider-Man from 2012 to 2014. Spencer only needed to have a similar build to his celebrity. By the looks of the pair in the picture above, they had been hitting the gym together. The Amazing Spiderman wasn’t a huge critical hit, and fans had some harsh words at times. However, William Spencer should still gain the plaudits. He did some gravity-defying stunts when he was playing everyone’s favorite wall slinger.

Mark Ruffalo

Mark Ruffalo

Mark Ruffalo has done some tremendous and action-packed roles. You’d think that he probably needed a stunt double when he played The Hulk in The Avengers. However, the picture above is from the set of Now You See Me. The man next to him is Anthony Molinari. Molinari played his stunt double in both movies and did a stellar job. In the film, Ruffalo stars as an FBI agent tasked with taking down a magician thief group. In his hunt for his foes, he goes through some dangerous car chases and explosions. The man you saw in those scenes was Molinari. From the brown eyes and curly hair, it’s tough to tell the two men apart.

When we think of Jennifer Lopez, we rarely think of stunt doubles. The icon is known best for her music. However, she’s done her fair share of roles in Hollywood too. These movies are rarely thrillers that might need a double. Well, in 2012, J Lo found herself a stunt double for the music video of Follow The Leader. The reason fans were surprised wasn’t that J Lo used a stunt double, but that the double was a man. It’s impressive to see how similar the man is made to look to the pop star. If you don’t zoom in on the face, you can’t tell the difference between them.
