McDonald’s Shamrock Shake is back in all its minty glory. The green Shamrock Shake is the seasonal favorite of all. The shake’s chocolaty cousin, Oreo Shamrock Mcflurry, is also back for the spring season.
The iconic green beverage officially returned on Monday ‘to mark the first green of spring’ and will be available throughout the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations. The chain introduced Oreo Shamrock McFlurry last February to honor the shake’s 50th anniversary.
The chocolate-mint shake is a perfect blend of vanilla soft-serve ice cream and minty Shamrock syrup, with the addition of crunchy pieces of oreo cookies swirling around. All of this is blended together to make a milkshake consistency. In the end, they top it with whipped cream.
“We’ve been serving the iconic, cult-favorite Shamrock Shake for 50 years and it’s become synonymous with McDonald’s ever since,” tells Linda VanGosen, McDonald’s vice president of menu innovation.
The creation of Shamrock Shake dates back to 1967 by a McDonald’s owner in Connecticut. In 1970, it was available only at select locations. In 2012, the beloved shake went nationwide for the first time.
“A very lovely green situation. Very, very striking,” the YouTuber said while mixing up the shake and showing off its vibrant hue. “The mint is pretty nice in this right now but I gotta admit the presentation is killer.”
He took a bite of the McFlurry, and the real magic happened inside his mouth.
“Oh, yes. Mmm. Yes, yes, yes, yes. Lovely,” he praised. “The flavor is coming through pretty amazing with this — just a hint of mint.”
