Starting with Kourtney Kardashian and followed by her sister Kylie Jenner, the movement has become very popular among Instagram users. The two sisters began by sharing pictures of themselves in bikinis that they tied in a not-so-traditional way. Instead of tying them at the nape of the neck and around the back, they decided to flip their bikini tops, tying them the wrong way up. Why were they doing this? Firstly, because they are the Kardashians, and they can do anything they want. Secondly, they probably had a strong desire to bulge out an extra dose of cleavage (like they already don’t do enough of that).
Not trying to be a hater; the sisters undoubtedly look super hot in their flipped bikinis. It’s no surprise that girls all over the world are catching up with this look. The re-styled bikini has become so popular and normalized that you would get confused if you see some wearing their bikinis the right way! However, the look is pretty risky. You have to pray to the heavens that the strings of your bikini top don’t untie in the process of getting a good photo for your social media handles.
Kylie Jenner most recently wore the upside-down bikini. Fans were very intrigued when she posted a picture of her torso in an almost non-existent blue bikini that wasn’t tied the right way around. We can say that this Instagram post was the sole resurrector of this unusual trend. As we all know how much people love following the Kardashian-Jenners, this trend spread like wildfire, and we saw girls around the globe turning their undies upside down.
A few days before Kylie broke the internet with her upside-down bikini post, Kourtney shared her own version of the trend. She posted a photo in a red barely-there two-piece called the ‘Naomi Venere’ tie-side bikini by an Australian brand, Sommer Swim. Fans loved the post with such intensity that everyone wanted to look as hot as Kourtney did in that bright red bikini. So much so, in attempts to look like her, the red bikini was sold out from all Sommer Swim stores.
After Kourtney’s image in the upside-down bikini crashed the internet, Australian brand Sommer Swim ran out of the red two-piece she wore. Women trying to look as sexy as she bought the bikini and put it out the wrong way. Looking at this enormous success, the brand endorsed the trend and launched its upside-down bikini collection.
